Redrawing things that might be left of memory, 2025
)
Redrawing things that might be left of memory' 2025 - Seasonal crop circles only appear in perfect conditions of prolonged dry weather on open land. They offer a short window of opportunity for aerial surveillance and photography to date and capture these previous settlements buried underground; however, they are hard to recognise when at ground level.
This work presents preliminary drawings that usually sit at the start of the making process for Marshall. They are understanding in their importance to making and thinking in being gestural and focused. 'Redrawing things that might be left of memory' thinks about remembering and misremembering. Drawn with thoughts of retelling and thinking about memories and the effect this can have on the 'truth' of said memory. Inspired by seasonal crop circles of old settlements, these drawings depict a previous dwelling that she lived in as a child, but does not remember.
