A Volumatic, or spacer, is a device used with an inhaler, by asthmatics, to create a moment between the release of the drug and its inhalation. It's holds the vapour just for a second between the asthmatic's mouth and her inhaler and is meant to prevent damage to the back of her throat when the vapour, breathed in, hits. Creating physical and temporal distance between release and relief.

Conversations with workers on the Industrial Park now, as well as past histories, allude to the toxicity of the dust produced by manufacturing labour. Celia's grandfather and father had lung cancer and she's an asthmatic - she's been sweeping up dust from the site as an act of care (for the past and for the site now), and to collect what's left behind of labour and experience.
