KRIS CANAVAN- (born, Bangor, NI. Lives and works in Blackpool, UK). With performances that straddle pain, endurance, and vulnerability, Canavan exposes the body’s limits and its potential as a site for resistance and transformation. Their interventions engage with both personal and political struggle, echoing the works of other groundbreaking artists in the canon of performance art.

Urolagnia (2024) shows photographic documentation of their 2017 performance in to a contrasting editorial quality and finish on aluminium. A collaboration between the artist and photographer Rhiannon Banks, they conjure up feelings of sensuality, sex, submission. Further exploring the artists ability to comment on lived experiences locally and globally, through personal and political subversive behaviours.

Canavan has had a recent solo exhibition, In The Shadow Of..., Abingdon Studios, featuring loaned works by Stuart Brisley. They have collaborated and shown with artists Inc. Franko B and Mona Hatoum. In 2025, Canavan undertook a period of residency with Ron Athey in Athens, Greece.
